There is a volcano asleep in all of us.

Three days with Joaquín Ruiz in Bratislava — dancer, choreographer, and the creator of the Vulcano method.

Flamenco is not only a dance. It is how the body says what words cannot.

Three courses, three depths — from a first day with no experience to work on your own choreography. Joaquín Ruiz brings his Vulcano method to Bratislava, the method he has been developing across Europe for years, and with it a room where technique meets the freedom to say something.

Three courses

Each course runs across all three days. Take one, two, or all three.

No previous experience

Vulcano Danza

Two dancers’ skirts and shoes on the studio floor
Length
3 hours

95 €

Dancers, non-dancers, dance teachers and movement therapists. No flamenco experience needed.

The course rests on the philosophy Joaquín has spent his life developing: flamenco as a freeing force, not a set of learned steps. Through breath, release and simple work in a group, he works with the body in a very natural way. He leads you toward an emotional connection with the music and your own way of saying something — with no pressure to get the technique right.

You leave with freedom in how you move, a new relationship to rhythm and music, and the experience that anyone really can dance flamenco.

The great gift Joaquín gives us through Vulcano is freedom — the freedom to find ourselves in the rhythm of the dance.

Espacio Abierto

Length
4 hours
Palo
Tientos-tangos
Accompaniment
Morenito de Triana, live guitar and voice

95 €

Dancers who already know the flamenco compás, and improvers.

A place to go deeper into flamenco dance. Joaquín teaches you to understand the relationship between the dance, the music and the structure of a given palo. He builds intuition, the ability to listen to the music, and the ability to respond to what is happening on stage.

You leave with more certainty in what you are doing, clarity about the structure of a palo, and the ability to improvise without fear.

Joaquín taught me the power of movement without restriction, and confidence in myself. Being able to improvise in flamenco has made me a very happy bailaora.

Coreografía

Length
4 hours
Palo

Accompaniment

120 €

Dancers with experience in flamenco rhythm and technique.

Joaquín has a career of choreography behind him, made for some of the best-known names in flamenco. In this course he hands over part of that craft and teaches you a complete short choreography.

You leave with a finished short choreography, and a clear understanding of its parts, its character and the dynamics of the style.

Júlia Aguado

Dancer, and an advocate of Spanish flamenco

Flamenco is freedom. It is passion. It is my way back to myself.

I have danced since I was a child. I trained at the art school in Banská Bystrica, learned classical technique and the basics of modern and folk dance, and spent several years dancing with the Blesk and Impulz companies.

In 2012 I found flamenco. It was unlike anything I knew — in its technical and rhythmic difficulty, its character, its expression. I danced with the companies of Libuša Bachratá and Zuzana Čorejová. In November 2024 I started teaching my own flamenco course for women in Pezinok.

Over years of dancing I have felt the healing side of it again and again — flamenco as a way to release deeply and to say who I actually am. That is why I am now training in dance and movement therapy.

I have studied with

Karime Amaya · Joaquín Grilo · Juan Polvillo · Pol Vaquero · Paco Fernández · Irene La Sentío · Joaquín Ruiz · David Pérez

Courses and workshops in

Sevilla · Granada · Cádiz · Jerez · Málaga · Nerja · Madrid
